Lichtenstein A Retrospective- Review- Tate Modern

First room mimics abstract expression acknowledging yet detracting by the works playful nature

The second room could be a take on American life and dream from the children's entrance to how the world works via Disney mascots to the women at home the engagement ring then falling to house duties solely done by a female

3 every day objects depicted in a manner of banality blank bare and minimal detracting us yet drawing viewers in

5 a take on Turner once again there is beauty to be found yet the beauty isn't realist beauty its a play on the natural world (sea shore 1964) 3 dimensional show Lichtenstein's mastery and his precise placement of dots to give the color depth and add shading

6 modern art deco take on musical instruments was interesting adding a contemporary flair that refreshes even today of note was his Velvet rope which could comment on the exclusivity behind yet as an observer you always remain in front

7 post modern showing his appreciation for the work of others adding a contemporary yet comical take from Rothko, Picasso and Mondrian his knowledge there knowledge making their art and style his own by making it his art and adapting it to his style

9's self portrait was interesting a mirror for a head always reflecting one self yet those looking in are looking in on themselves, reflecting with no reflection art is a piece you use to reflect oneself without seeing yourself like a mirror with no glass

10 balance when creating mimicing a work deemed perfect to create an imperfect replica yet which piece can be considered the art piece both or either or

11 the depiction of the nude shows women of a certain kind an innocent blonde hair blue or green eyed beauty a certain ideal created not only by him but what was seen widely as beauty of the day

12 seems to be a reflection of ones work not just his own but once again those of others at a time he had added and contributed a distinct voice

13 minimal and reduced landscapes paying homage to the oriental pictures of nature

A glimpse into the mind of one who's work helped propel the pop art movement a unique yet self aware talent there was pieces missing such as the word bubble works which was weird as those are some most are familiar with yet at the same time maybe a good thing to probe deeper into his art not all rooms have been spoken of here but mainly all, The Tate does what the Tate does good surveying and bringing together the works needed in order to create an exhibit of note 3/5
