Josef Valentino has long been a name to watch with a role call of interesting projects under his belt & working with a range of clients from the likes of Diesel & Tiger Beer. A drifter & roamer of ideas now with his 'Average Joe' Project. As the title suggests you don't have to love art you can be the average Joe. he is attempting the challenge of a world round trip all for the love of art. Creating shares in the project at £20 a piece he is allowing individuals to unite in the sake of art and work towards one goal and be included in a moment that will be remembered in film, a journey in more than one sense.

I had this idea sat in bed on Saturday morning. I read that Damien Hirst is offering a free piece of his art to anyone who can visit each of the 11 Gagosian Gallerys (London – Paris – New York – Los Angeles – Hong Kong – Geneva – Rome) before his show ends next month.- Jaiden James

But who can travel the world in under two weeks for the sake of art? You either choose to see the impossible or create an opportunity, and in that moment I was inspired by the challenge of doing this against all odds, for the #averagejoe

To do this, I’ve created 500 shares in the project, each at the value of £20: enough to complete the journey, create a film afterwards and beat the odds.

Even if you haven’t got the money and like my idea, please get involved. I will be just as grateful if you offer us a ride in your car, feed us a meal or put a roof over our heads.

Roxxxan was early to our photo shoot, I arrived on time where the photographer Cameron Alexander and Rox was engaged in a chat, we was all surprised how grounded and down to earth she was, in a game like Grime where so many are on guard I expected a female mc to be even more so then her male counterparts.

Roxxxan is stunning and she has an eager eye for fashion and is thirsty for knowledge, already knowing a few star names such as Christopher Shannon & Casette playa. We talked about many things throughout the shoot about the lack of female mc's and good ones at that to as far out topics such as Lady Gaga.

As the day drew to a close I came to the decision that Grime or Rap or whatever it goes by is missing that key component of a female mc that is able to reach out to the mainstream and have a strong presence and significance and with a personality, talent, beauty and style such as what Roxxxan posses the game may have just found what it’s been missing.

They can sing, they can dance, they look good and have had a string of successful hits including five number ones, as much as you would like to like JLS there is a key ingredient missing from them and that is good songs and possibly good producers.

3 albums in and their sound is the same as when they debuted as is their lyrics. There hasn't been much of a progression here and that is where the boys seem to falter. The fact is there was much talks of possible collaborators such as Rihanna & Bruno Mars and all there is Dev. At the end of the day critical success hardly matters as there fans will flock to buy this and send them rocketing up the charts but if there is any hopes of cracking other markets and bigger countries a step up is needed.

Possibly a perfect album for a fan base dying to hear new music but sadly for others there is nothing new here.

Cher Lloyd- Sticks & Stones

Cher Lloyd caused a stir on last years X-Factor blowing many a way with Keri Hilson get your swag on making it to the live round & dividing many who just couldn't seem to like or get her although she gave a few interesting and memorable performances when she stripped it down took away the rapping such as Shakespeare's Sisters'stay' and the same could be said with this Album when she lets others rap and herself sing those are the tracks that remain the strongest.

There is no denying that Cher can sing and it is that she does best at just 18 she shows she has the talent & co-writing much of the album it seems she knows pretty much what she wants & is in control of her image & sound.

The album is aimed at a young audience yet remarkably it seems older than Jessie J's output with influences from dubstep sprinkled all the way through, the best track has to be Dub on the track where Cher is joined by the likes of Mic Righteous, Dot Rotten & Ghetts with Superhero one of her best vocals on the album.

Its an interesting debut that moves Cher into a different league than just another manufactured x-factor reject

Much hype has been made about Weekend, its one of those films you hear loads about before you see and has had an extended run on the festival circuit now finally hitting its home screens.

The story focuses on Russell & Glen, where Russell is more reserved with his sexuality & Glen more out and proud it seems the two are polar opposites at first, meeting in a club and spending the weekend together, bonding over Glen a budding artist asking Russell to participate in his project which involves asking about their shared encounter, hook up and the sex that follows. They soon find they have more in common than they would have previously thought each helping one another to overcome some sort of issue within their lives.

It offers an optimistic look into yes a gay relationship but its more than that its a love story where those falling in love happen to be of the same sex. Haigh is able to perfectly capture those awkward moments of getting to know someone as the walls fall and you let another individual in.

Beautifully shot in Nottingham, finely written. Weekend is an intimate piece of work which shines in all the right places it offers something new and feels fresh.

Famed in both fashion & art photographer and film maker Ari Marcopoulos is a photographer who seems to capture all that surrounds him including the reclusive sub cultures of skaters and graffti artists as well as members of his own family. The depth of intimacy and format of his pictures allow one to wander into a voyeuristic position. Mimicking a phonebook, Directory comprises of 1,200 photographs. Limited in edition each book contains a print by the artist.

The Wanted- Battleground

The Wanted burst onto the scene and filled what was really missing within the UK, a good boyband (apart from JLS). Now with the albeit younger One Direction, The Wanted prove they still have their place within the market. With several hits two number one singles and a even larger profile and boots to fill it seems the band succeeds growing and moving forward with their style and sound.

Battleground's debut single 'Glad you came' topped the chart and was an amazingly catchy piece of brit pop and the boys most dance floor friendly track to date and also on the album, Although Weekend speed-ed up wouldn't be out of place in a club yet is far from a contender to Glad you came. It has its ballads strongest being Warzone & Last To Know proving that the boys are all talented and in more ways then one stepping up to the plate and with some members co-writing tracks.

Top Boy

The question with Top Boy is does it just reinforce the stereotypes that the mainstream media paint of black youths in 'urban' settings or does it shine a light on gang culture within British estates and streets and bring it a more mainstream consciousness?.

I would say a bit of both, have we not seen this world so many times before in the Bullet Boy, Segments of The Bill, Kidulthood, Adulthood etc, the same actors act out the same roles. I don't discredit Top Boy but what I do hate is the same old same old merry go round is there nothing more to say about 'urban' youths which in this case and others seem to be predominately black, then thuggery, theft, drugs and all the other stuff that comes with dwelling in the underworld that the estates are projected as.

The acting was on point and the show was well produced with interesting cinematography and the show had its merits introducing a new cast of actors and showing Kano (Kane Robinson) in a new light and proving he is multi talented.

There is a big disconnect between black urban culture and I do wonder why is it still rare to find tv shows and films about life as a Black British person.

There are many issues the show addresses like that of the absent fathers, unstable single mothers, mothers who will do any and everything to get out, violent and broken homes.

What the show lacks in consequences with boys running stabbing and shooting one another with the only shred of police is in flashing blue lights driving by or a plaque appealing for witnesses. It offers that the solution to the problems that occur is by killing people keep killing till you get to the top of the chain plant the gun used and the problems will all disappear.

Top Boy has been called many things and praised for its 'gritty' and 'truthful' portrayal. I can say there is many ways to 'escape' if one must escape and it certainly isn't the way projected on screen. It would be nice to see Black youths shown in a positive way for once and for all show those who are achieving and living their lives outside of the urban underground.

Rizzle Kicks comprises of Jordan & Harley the former being the rapper whilst the latter is the singer.

Their sound is more akin to late 80's/ early 90's hip hop a sound they describe 'Indie-Hop'Rapping and sampling beats from Lily Allen to Arctic Monkeys with lyrical contents that reflect British youth culture from songs about skins to one liners 'holding up stores with lucazade bottles'. Akin to the likes of Frank Skinner or The Mitchell brothersthey are very British. They are Brit School alumni which kind of amazes me, Brit school is cool but they seem, unpolished and raw a bit like another Zoo Kid opposed to say Adele or Jessie J, their energy is more of a we are doing this for fun kind of thing which is good, it’s nice to see some youthful energy and flair.

The UK music scene right now is awash with a wide spectrum of talent with a diverse variety of sounds that cross genres and mix styles. From Yasmin, Ed Sheeran, Maxsta, Devlin, Katy B, Maverick Sabre to Rizzle Kicks. There is more underground names at present and the latter is now signed to a major (Island Records) yet none the less they are up and coming and have already had a top ten hit.
